In a meeting with Complex, Drake explains: "The entire tape extends from perhaps the closest companion Oliver. One night we were having a discussion about ladies and the manner in which we were discussing them, it was so shameless thus disrespectful. He messaged me just after we got off the telephone and he resembled, 'Are we turning into the men that our mothers separated?' That's really where the cover comes from, too. It's just this child in pursuit of adoration and cash. We're heroes, I'm friends with some real great individuals and for him to even content me after we got off the telephone it just showed we have a conscience. In any case, sometimes you just get so far gone, you get enveloped with this shit. The title has a ton of meanings—as the manner in which we convey ourselves, the manner in which we dress, the manner in which individuals see us, not to sound presumptuous, it's just that believing that we're just distanced positively. You're just raising past the bullshit and past all the shit that you used to be a piece of and you're not that glad for, you're just so far gone."
